Who we are and what this notice covers

Zero Trace Consulting, LLC provides technology assistance, scam prevention, identity protection guidance, and online safety education for individuals and families. Matthew S. Carr is the Founder & Principal Consultant.

This notice explains information handled through this website and inquiries sent to Zero Trace. If you arrange a service that involves access to your devices or accounts, discuss the access needed and the handling of that information with Matthew before the work begins.

Information you share

The Free Review form asks for your name, your preferred contact method, and a phone number or email address. You may also provide a message about the help you need and an optional answer to “How did you hear about us?” If you contact us by phone or email, you choose what information to share in that conversation.

Please do not put passwords, sign-in codes, Social Security numbers, payment-card or bank details, identity documents, or medical records in the form or an email. A general description of the concern is enough to get started.

If you are arranging help for a parent or another adult, involve them and obtain their permission before sharing their personal information.

How inquiry information is used

Inquiry information is used to respond to you, understand your concern, discuss suitable help, and arrange any next steps you choose. The optional referral answer helps us understand which outreach is useful; you can leave it blank.

Sending a Free Review request does not book an appointment, purchase a service, create a customer account, or enroll you in a newsletter. The current form does not send your information to advertising or marketing platforms.

Where your inquiry goes

The form sends your submitted information to Matthew@ZeroTrace-Consulting.com. It does not save a separate copy of your name, contact details, message, or referral answer as a submission in the WordPress database.

This does not mean that no copy exists: the email system processes and stores the inquiry, and hosting or email systems may keep logs or backup copies. If a submission fails, the form shows your entered details again so you can correct them or retry.

Website information and cookies

When you visit a website, the server receives technical information such as an internet protocol (IP) address and request details. Hosting systems may record information such as the pages requested, time of access, browser information, and errors to operate and protect the site.

The review form uses a security cookie lasting up to two hours and, after a successful submission, a confirmation cookie lasting up to ten minutes. These contain random or signed identifiers, not your form answers. They help verify requests and display the correct confirmation.

The form also keeps short-lived security records, including keyed identifiers derived from a browser identifier and IP address, to limit repeated requests and prevent duplicate emails. These records do not contain your inquiry text. Expired security records may remain until routine cleanup runs.

WordPress also uses cookies for people signing in to the website dashboard. Those administration cookies are separate from the public review form. Your browser may also hold temporary website storage used by the website platform.

The current website has no installed analytics service, advertising pixels, or social-media tracking widgets. You can restrict or delete cookies using your browser settings. Blocking the form cookies may prevent submission; you can call or email instead.

Who may receive or access information

Matthew receives inquiries sent to the business. Website hosting, email, backup, and authorized website-maintenance providers may process information as needed to operate, support, or protect the website and communications.

The inquiry form has no data-sale or advertising-sharing integration. Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law or to address fraud, security incidents, or legal claims. For questions about a particular provider or who can access an inquiry, contact Matthew.

How long information is kept

Form security cookies expire after the periods described above. Inquiry emails remain in the business email system until deleted; email, hosting logs, and backups follow their respective retention settings and processes. The website does not automatically delete an inquiry from the business mailbox.

Contact Matthew to ask about the current retention of your inquiry or to request deletion. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, service, or dispute-related reasons, and backup copies may not disappear immediately. For information about retention settings or a particular inquiry, contact Matthew.

Your choices and requests

You can browse the site without submitting a form, leave optional fields blank, or choose to call or email. You may ask Matthew what inquiry information the business holds about you, ask to correct inaccurate details, or request deletion.

We may need to verify that a request relates to you or that you are authorized to act for someone else. Do not send identity documents or other sensitive information as proof unless a suitable verification method has first been agreed. Any rights or exceptions under applicable law still apply.

Remote support, photos, and testimonials

Before remote support begins, agree directly with Matthew on the task, any device or account access needed, and the cost. This website does not itself start a remote connection to your device.

If you provide a photo or testimonial for publication, agree with Matthew on permission, wording, and how the person will be identified before it is used. Do not send private account details or sensitive information for use in a testimonial. The testimonial area currently contains a placeholder, not a client endorsement.

Security and other websites

The form includes validation, request verification, and measures to limit repeated or duplicate submissions. No website, email system, or method of transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid sending sensitive information through this form or ordinary email.

Safety Tips may link to resources on other websites. If you follow a link, that website handles information under its own privacy practices. Review its notice before sharing personal information.

Changes to this notice

Changes to the website’s tools or information-handling practices will be reflected in this notice. Check the “Last updated” date when reviewing it. Contact Matthew if anything is unclear or if you would like to discuss how your information is handled.
